Terms of Use

These are the terms for using Commonplace. By creating an account you agree to them.

What the service is

Commonplace turns a cooking video you point it at into a written recipe, and keeps your recipes in a personal cookbook. It is for your own, personal use.

Other people's videos

The videos belong to the people who made them. Commonplace does not keep or serve copies of them, and every recipe carries its creator's name and a link back to the original. Do not use the service to republish someone's work as your own.

The recipes

Recipes are written by an AI model from what a video says and shows. They can be wrong or incomplete: a quantity may be missing, a step may be misheard. Check a recipe against the video before relying on it, especially for allergies, food safety and cooking temperatures.

Imports

Each account starts with a number of free imports, shown when you add a recipe. An import is used only when a video actually becomes a recipe: a video that cannot be downloaded, or has no recipe in it, costs nothing. Recipes you have saved stay yours to read whether or not you have imports left. Buying more imports is not open yet; these terms will say how it works before it is.

Fair use

Imports are limited per account. Do not try to get around the limits, automate the service, or use it to overload or break into it. Accounts that do may be closed.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself. You can delete your account at any time under Account; see the Privacy Policy for what that removes.

No warranty

The service is provided as it is. It may change, be unavailable, or stop, and TikTok or Instagram may change in ways that break it. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for loss arising from using it.
